International Primary Products
International Primary Products (NZ) Ltd (IPP) was formed in 2009. We are export log traders sourcing logs in New Zealand and Australia and then selling to world markets including China, India and Vietnam.
Our log export volumes are currently around 120,000 JASm3 annually. These volumes are sourced via a stable supply group that includes several significant forest owners and management companies.
Our export operations in New Zealand are predominantly through the ports of Auckland, Tauranga and Lyttelton. The IPP model differs from the typical “bulk” shipping option, in that we utilise standard shipping containers for our customer’s cargo. Via this method, we can offer solutions to almost any port in the world, shipping frequency can be as often as weekly, and our minimum order quantity (MOQ) can be small if required e.g. as small as 6 x 40' containers per consignment.
Our company has a small highly experienced team of people in New Zealand, located in Auckland and Wellington.
At IPP, we strive to meet our customer’s demands. We can ensure a regular, efficient and cost effective solution, which allows our customers to procure their logs in smaller consignments and thus requiring a lower level of capital outlay by them at any one time.
News
In April 2015, we expanded our operations and now have an Australian based subsidiary company, International Primary Products (AUST) Pty Ltd. In May 2016, we opened our first Australian log yard in Goulburn, NSW where we packed and railed logs in containers for export through Sydney’s Port Botany. This expansion allowed us to secure more volume, and gave our export customers a broader range of log options. Unfortunately, in November 2020, China banned the importation of logs from Australia and so for the time being our Goulburn operation has been put on hold. However, we can still source logs in Australia for supply to markets, other than China, on an as required/as available basis.
